Ghana CSOs Alliance on Mission 300

The decision to establish the Alliance was made in July 2026, at a Civil Society Convening Workshop on Mission 300. The Alliance serves as a bridge between government, development partners, the private sector, and communities by promoting transparency, citizen participation, and inclusive engagement throughout the implementation of Ghana’s National Energy Compact.

The Alliance closes the critical gap between national commitments and local action by providing independent monitoring of the Energy Compact, strengthening accountability, raising public awareness, supporting evidence-based advocacy and aligning our energy access contributions to the National Energy Compact. Through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and grassroots engagement, the Ghana CSOs Alliance helps ensure that Mission 300 delivers an energy transition that is transparent, inclusive, sustainable, and leaves no one behind.

Africa is home to the world’s largest electricity access gap, with nearly 600 million people still living without reliable electricity. To address this challenge, the World Bank Group and the African Development Bank (AfDB), together with partners including The Rockefeller Foundation, Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), and ESMAP, launched Mission 300 to connect 300 million Africans to electricity by 2030. In Ghana, this ambition is being implemented through the National Energy Compact, a roadmap that seeks to achieve 99% electricity access by 2030, increase renewable energy in the generation mix to 10%, expand clean cooking solutions, and strengthen the country’s energy sector through strategic reforms and investments.
